The 船舶技术理学硕士 is offered as a part-time or full-time Masters Degree programme that caters for working engineers, executives and managers in the local marine and offshore industry, with minimum disruption to their demanding work commitments. This dynamic course responds to the challenges and demands of the global maritime sector.

The programme develops the skills of graduate engineers working in the marine and offshore industry in advanced technologies, 设计, 工程, 管理, 安全, 法定规则及规例, 和业务. 最低准入要求

  • 2:2荣誉学位, or international equivalent, in a marine technology subject or relevant 工程 subject. Relevant experience is desirable, although not essential.
  • Candidates with a relevant 工程 Diploma (2-3 years course) certificate with at least 8 (eight) years of working experience and is at least 30 (thirty) years old may also be considered on a case by case basis.

  • To introduce students to advanced marine systems and the state of the art of marine 工程 设计, 包括设计原则, 方法和工具.

  • To familiarise students with the work and responsibilities of the marine surveyor, and in particular the procedures employed in structural and machinery surveys of ships and offshore installations.
  • To increase awareness of structural behaviour and to develop advanced structural and material concepts.

  • To equip students with the knowledge to understand the interaction between the external loading and structural behaviour of ocean 工程 systems. This will be achieved by teaching advanced modelling techniques in ocean environment, 流体动力学, rigid-body and structural dynamics and structural synthesis.
  • To develop knowledge and understanding of: n在线ar wave theory and its applications, calculation of loads and oscillating motions of floating structures and numerical methods used in 流体动力学 calculations.
  • To gain the knowledge and understanding of different configurations, components and equipment used in mooring and riser systems. To address the theoretical and practical aspects of mooring and riser systems. To develop students' skills in 设计ing and analysing mooring and riser systems. To gain the knowledge and understanding of elemental concepts of drilling 工程.
